Migration

The project was to replace and improve the company’s old websites that were on WordPress and Magento 1.9. Both were to be migrated to Magento 2 so that the two different domains could be connected to a single back-end system and warehouse-management system.

Customisations

There were some custom features that we needed to add, such as:

• a ’quotation’ payment method (enabling the customer to request a quote for the configured product);
• different user groups for buyers, who will see different product prices depending on their role;
• the ability to download technical files from the product page;
• the ability to create the project pages from the admin interface.

We were also tasked with presenting the user with the choice of different product attributes, resulting in the generation of a PDF file that included a description, images and the product specification code.

Speed

We needed to fix the issue of slow loading of product pages with a huge number of option dependencies.

At the beginning of the project, we selected new visual templates and installed Magento multi-store shops with different domains’ extension. This module enables the management of different stores and warehouse-management systems through one account. We also migrated two stores to Magento 2.2.6.

Other tasks:

• Custom checkout process;
• Custom product configurator, generating a PDF file with description, images and specification code;
• Product gallery;
• Product page;
• Customised menu and filters;
• Quotation payment method;
• Ability to download spec files from the product pages.

We have combined two existing sites into one Magento 2 site with a single back-end management system. Now, Factorylux has a fully functional, customised online shop on a Magento 2 platform, with custom features for an enjoyable customer experience.
